Centrecorp have been able to provide vital financial assistance to enable the people of Central Australia who are in housing need to secure tenancies with Anglicare NT in their Transitional Housing program. This government funded program requires payment of a bond much like private rental accommodation so that participants experience the real-world requirements of tenancy responsibilities. However, immediately coming up with the bond to secure a property is not easy for people who may be homeless and Centrecorp have ensured that those in the most need do not fall through the cracks. The solution has been for Centrecorp to loan the bond monies to the tenant via Anglicare. Since its inception late last year this facility has enabled 10 families to move into their rental property. They are re-paying the bond loans over a period of time, which will provide them with a valuable aid to transition to permanent accommodation when the time is right. Anglicare have a long term relationship with Centrecorp which has enabled the organisation to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community with setting up their homes and this assistance has been a vital part of the housing continuum.
